Mississauga Hospital – Site Updates

To prepare us for a future where we have the capacity to shape a healthier tomorrow and to support construction of The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital and Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children, work is underway at Mississauga Hospital.

Patients, families and our teams remain our top priority as we continue to provide high-quality care while fostering a positive patient, family and provided experience throughout construction.

This page shares timely updates and milestones related to construction activities.

Roundabout at Mississauga Hospital

On September 22, a roundabout will open at the Bronte College Court entrance to Mississauga Hospital.

The roundabout is designed to meet the needs of the future hospital and will provide vehicle access from Bronte College Court to all hospital entrances and the parking garage.

Please continue to follow posted signage when travelling through the hospital.

The map and resources below provide information about navigating the new roundabout.

Map

Map of temporary traffic changes at Mississauga Hospital near the parking garage and Bronte College Court due to construction. The map shows revised vehicle routes, pedestrian walkways, and restricted access areas.

The map depicts traffic flow changes around the Mississauga Hospital parking garage caused by construction activity east of the garage.

The parking garage occupies the centre-left portion of the map. Vehicle access to the parking garage remains available through the existing parking entrance and exit located on the south side of the garage near Bronte College Court. A second parking entrance and exit is shown on the west side of the garage.

A large construction zone is located east and northeast of the parking garage. The construction area is highlighted with diagonal orange stripes and construction symbols. Vehicle access into the construction zone is prohibited.

Bronte College Court runs along the south and southeast side of the map. Vehicles approaching from Bronte College Court must enter a small roundabout located at the southeast corner of the parking garage.

At the roundabout:

  • Vehicles can travel counterclockwise around the roundabout.
  • Vehicles may continue north along the temporary roadway beside the construction area.
  • Vehicles may enter or exit the parking garage using the nearby parking entrance and exit.
  • Traffic signs and directional arrows indicate one-way traffic movement through the roundabout and adjacent roadways.

The temporary roadway north of the roundabout runs along the west edge of the construction area. Traffic travels in opposite directions on separate sections of this roadway as indicated by directional arrows. At the north end, vehicles can continue toward the hospital entrance area.

Pedestrian walkways are marked by green paths with white dashed sections. Continuous pedestrian routes are provided around the perimeter of the construction area, along sections of Bronte College Court, and beside the parking garage. Walkways remain separated from vehicle traffic and provide access between the hospital entrance, parking garage, and surrounding roads.

Red arrows on the east side of the roundabout highlight the location where traffic has been redirected because of the construction area.

Key map symbols include:

  • Black circle with “E”: Hospital entrance.
  • Orange construction symbol: Construction area.
  • Red prohibition symbol: No vehicle access.
  • Yellow arrows: Permitted vehicle travel direction.
  • Green paths: Pedestrian walkways.

Overall, the map shows that construction east of the parking garage has altered vehicle circulation, but access to the hospital, parking garage, and pedestrian routes remains available through designated temporary roadways and walkways.

Truck Waiting Area on Queensway West

The south shoulder of Queensway West is being extended to create a Truck Waiting Area. This provides a safe dedicated lane for construction vehicles to wait before entering the hospital site, not taking up any existing lanes on Queensway West while maintaining clear access for hospital and community traffic. All trucks are required to turn off their engines while waiting.

The following map outlines the primary and secondary routes that trucks will use when travelling to and from the hospital’s construction site. Routes are on major arterial roads with direct highway access, avoiding neighbourhood roads at all times.

Truck Access to Mississauga Hospital Construction Site: trucks will travel from: QEW Wast-bound to Erin Mills Parkway, Dundas St W, Mavis Rd to Queensway West; QEW West-bound to Cawthra Rd, Dundas St W, Mavis Rd to Queensway West; Highway 403 (East and West bound) to Mavis Rd to Queensway West; Truck enter Mississauga Hospital Construction site from Queensway West.
Secondary truck access is from QEW (East and West bound) via Hurontario St to Dundas St W;
Truck acces From costruction site: Truck leave via Bronte College Road, to Hurontario South-bound to QEW (East and West bound). Construction Vehicle Lay-by is located on the South shoulder of Queensway W, just East of Mavis Rd.

Parking at Mississauga Hospital

Mississauga Hospital’s 8-storey parking garage, which opened in November 2024, is located on Bronte College Court, and can be accessed from the hospital’s Bronte College Court, Queensway West, or Confederation Pkwy entrances. Due to construction and location of the garage, driving to the hospital will look different than before. Allow extra time to find a parking space.
